To be eligible for the bursary,
everyone in the group must be registered UKSEDS Members (they can join for free:
hub.ukseds.org/apply).
We also advise trying to organise travel with other Branches in your region (contact your Regional Coordinator or our
Membership Team for support). You can also contact your Students’ Union or university department for additional funding opportunities.
How is bursary amount decided?
Bursary amount will be decided on a case by case basis. This is to allow UKSEDS to review your application and submitted estimates, and ensure the estimates are reasonable. Full amount can be awarded if reasonable (and will in most cases). We want to be able to support our branches as much as possible, and as the funding available is not unlimited, this review process keeps it fair for all branches. If we receive a very high volume of applications with branches bringing a high volume of members, due to limitations of funding available, the bursary will have to be awarded on a first come first served basis – so don’t wait until the last minute to submit your application!
Please note we cannot guarantee the full amount being approved if UKSEDS deems the submitted estimate amount to be unreasonable, or if there is limited funding remaining. We will aim to respond to your application within two days of receiving your application to confirm the approved amount.
What if there are no Branches at my university?
This bursary is exclusive to UKSEDS Branches. If there are no Branches at your university, you can make use of this bursary by reaching out to nearby Branches and joining their group for NSSC travel and accommodation (reach out to our
Membership Team for support)! You can also register a society at your university as a UKSEDS Branch easily
here, and submit an application for this bursary to bring your members to NSSC.
What happens after submission of this application?
We will aim to notify you of the outcome of your application within two days of receiving your application. If your application is approved, this will include confirmation of amount approved based on the estimate submitted. This may not be the full amount requested due to reasons highlighted above.
Following your acceptance of the amount approved, you will receive a link to a separate NSSC Reimbursement Form to submit your final total costs and expense receipts, which will remain open until 21st March 2025. Reimbursements will be made from 1st April 2025.
For applications that are approved, UKSEDS reserves the right to revoke funding for cases where the submitted receipts are incomplete or differ substantially from the approved amount.
If your submitted receipts are incomplete, unclear, or highlight unapproved costs, it will be subject to review and may not be approved. If the final amount based on your submitted receipts are lower than the approved amount, only this lower amount will be reimbursed.
Reasonable increases in final costs will be accepted at UKSEDS’ discretion. If there is an increase of over 10%, please contact us directly with the justification. If this is deemed reasonable, and there is sufficient funding remaining to cover the additional cost, this may be approved. If not, reimbursement will be made according to your original approved amount.
What if more members want to join the group after submission of this application?
We want you to be able to bring as many people as possible that are interested in and would benefit from NSSC, so costs increasing due to additional members joining the group for travel/accommodation after submission of this form will be accepted – please notify us directly so we can confirm if there is sufficient funding remaining to cover this, and if so, readjust your estimate and approved amount.
This application form will remain open until 7th February 2025. We will aim to notify you of the outcome of your application, including the approved amount if successful, within two days of receiving your application.
