Established in 2018, Diversity in Space Careers (DISC) is a one-day conference championing equality, diversity, and inclusion in the space sector. It is an opportunity for students and young graduates to hear from speakers from across the space sector talking about their work and their experiences overcoming personal barriers from mental health to disability and discrimination.

2025 – 23 October: Burlington House, London & Online (65 in person attendees)

Our fourth Diversity in Space Careers Conference returned to Burlington House, home of the Royal Astronomical Society, and was delivered in a hybrid format to enable both in-person and remote participation. The event featured keynote talks, panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions exploring inclusion, representation, accessibility, culture, and belonging across the space sector. With 100 registrations and 50 in-person attendees, the conference welcomed speakers from industry, academia, charities, and professional organisations, including discussions on inclusive education, workplace adjustments, imposter syndrome, neurodiversity, arts and culture and underrepresented voices in space. DiSC 2025 was proudly sponsored by Astroscale and supported by the Royal Astronomical Society, Braided.space, Space Scotland, the University of Surrey, and the British Interplanetary Society.

2024 – 5 April: King’s College London, London (45 attendees)

Our third Diversity in Space Careers Conference was hosted by KCL Space at King’s College London. The event brought together students, early-career professionals, academics, and industry representatives for a day of talks, workshops, and networking focused on equality, diversity, and inclusion in the space sector. Speakers explored topics including inclusive workplace practices, communication and collaboration in space and engineering environments, deaf awareness, accessibility, and broadening participation in the space sector. The conference was proudly sponsored by Astroscale and provided attendees with opportunities to hear from professionals across academia and industry while building new connections within the space community.

2021 – 31 January: Virtual (100+ views)

Our second Diversity in Space Careers (DISC) Conference featured a variety of talks and panels exploring the importance of diversity and how individuals and organisations can better support those around them. This was hosted virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic on our streaming platform, allowing it to be accessible to students across the country. It also allowed us to bring together a diverse group of space professionals from across the globe to discuss their work, experiences, and what more needs to be done to make the space sector inclusive to all.

2018 – 4th October: Burlington House, London 

This was our inaugural Diversity in Space Careers event, which was hosted at Burlington House, home to the Royal Astronomical Society. Attendees were able to meet with students, young professionals, learned societies and industry to network and celebrate the wide range of people and careers available in the sector. A variety of diverse speakers were present to give talks, workshops and to lead panel discussions, on nuimerous different topics, including LGBT visibility, dealing with discrimination in academic and workplace environments, and the challenges of navigating a PhD degree.
