Organised by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), the annual International Astronautical Congress (IAC) is the world’s largest astronautics/space engineering conference. As part of each IAC, there is a student paper competition (the E2.1 Student Conference) with prizes for best papers/presentation. Papers may be on any subject related to space sciences, industry or technology and must be the work of the author(s) (no more than two students).
There are two categories: a) Undergraduate b) Postgraduate. For both categories, there is an age limit – entrants must have been no more than 28 on 1 January 2015. For the IAC2015 in Jerusalem, the selection of the two UK entrants will be carried out by the British Interplanetary Society Space Education and Outreach Committee.
Abstracts must be submitted by 17th April, and the winners and runners up will be selected at an event on 30th May.Each of the two prize winners will be presented with a cheque for GBP 300 at IAC 2015, which this year will be held in Jerusalem from 12th-16th October, after the student competition has taken place.
