SEDS-USA host SpaceTalks

Taking a bold leap and going viral, our sister organisation, SEDS-USA have made preparations for some live video sessions exploring interesting aspects of space. This is yet another example of how the SEDS network is engaging across media platforms with both the public and industry to promote the interests of space.

SEDS Space Talks is project which involves a series of Google+ Hangouts broadcast monthly on air. The shows aim to highlight developments, challenges, and new opportunities in the Space Industry. Each month, a new space-industry leader is invited to talk about a hot space topic and students have the chance to talk face to face about pressing space topics. The first 8 Google hangout spots have already been reserved for SEDS members on a first come, first serve basis. The events will be broadcast live to the public on YouTube with the opportunity to send in questions to the speaker throughout the presentation and Q&A session.SpaceTalks promo

In this month’s show William Pomerantz, Vice President of Virgin Galactic will be giving a presentation on some of Virgin Galactic’s exciting projects.  Will is the Vice President for Special Projects at Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, the world’s first spaceline. Virgin Galactic is building on the legacy of the ANSARI X PRIZE-winning SpaceShipOne, with the aspiration of bringing a fleet of commercial spacecraft into service for private, civil, and scientific passengers. Some of the ‘Special Projects’ Will has worked on are the LauncherOne small satellite launch vehicle and the use of SpaceShipTwo as a research platform, among others.

The SpaceTalks session can be viewed here at 01:00 – 02:00 GMT 28/03/14 in the UK. For all American viewers the show can be viewed 21:00 – 22:00 Eastern or  18:00 – 19:00 Pacific 27/03/14 on the same link.
