AeroMSc Bursary scheme – launching careers in UK aerospace

MAIN Aer MSc Logo (605x154)With record revenue and growth, outstripping all other sectors of the economy, the UK’s aerospace industry urgently needs well qualified graduates to spearhead its continued growth. That is why UK government and 10 major aerospace employers are jointly funding 500 MSc tuition fee bursaries, each worth up to £9.5k.

In the words of Rt Hon Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills : ‘We have the top aerospace industry in Europe, and are second in the world only to the US. There are great opportunities ahead …’

The AeroMSc bursary scheme is targeting talented graduates from engineering , science and maths, including those who may not previously have considered this sector. People with good first degrees in STEM subjects have already acquired the theoretical base from which to build the specialist learning that approved MScs deliver and which UK aerospace now urgently requires.

One of last year’s bursary holders is Rosie Hood. She graduated in physics from Imperial College last summer and is now studied MSc Space Science and Engineering at UCL, with tuition fees fully-funded by the MSc bursary scheme. Her project was working with the ESA-NASA space mission Euclid, on the VIS instrument led by UCL.

To learn more about the AeroMSc bursary scheme please go to www.raeng.org.uk/aeromsc. There is no deadline but it closes once each year’s quota has been reached, so early application is recommended. This is the last year the scheme will run.
