About

This year World Space Week takes place between 4th-10th October and is themed around “The Moon: Gateway to the Stars”. To celebrate, UKSEDS and the British Interplanetary Society have joined together to run a competition to see which university can run the best outreach event during World Space Week. As the human race prepares to return to our closest neighbour, there’s a huge amount to get the public excited about, even if it doesn’t always make the headlines.

UKSEDS are offering £50 per team to cover the costs of running the events and £100 to the society that runs the best outreach event. Events will be judged on creativity, educational value and the number of people reached. We would like to see events target school children aged 10-14, however if you have an exciting idea for a different age group then we won’t stop you.

This isn’t just an opportunity to get the next generation excited about science; industry is always looking for strong communicators and people who can demonstrate organisational skills. This competition will allow you to demonstrate key skills to employers.
