Greetings from Sweden!

Several UKSEDS Members are currently in the City of Kiruna in the  far north of Sweden participating in the Human Spaceflight and Exploration summer course, including committee members Graeme and Tom (Secretary and Treasurer). Kiruna is about 200Km North of the Arctic Circle and although it isn’t very cold at the moment the Summer months do mean that it doesn’t really get dark at night which has taken some getting used to!

The course began almost two weeks now and we have been busy learning about several aspects of Space exploration as well as building model rockets which we will be launching at the nearby Esrange tomorrow.

We have also been treated to a host of activities alongside the course such as visiting the local mine upon which the city of Kiruna was built and we were even given the chance to have a go in the Spaceball at the Institute of Space physics  (click here to see Tom in action!).

Look out for photos from the trip which will be appearing on the UKSEDS Facebook page in the next few days!
